The Trustees at Oxford House have ultimate governance responsibility for the charity. They have legal responsibility for the charity’s work, guide strategy and support the CEO and ensure the objectives of Oxford House are realised. All Trustees are volunteers.

Trustees are selected based on the skills, experience and passion for the work we do. Many of our trustees are also local residents and bring local knowledge as well as their professional skills.

Michael Judge (Chair)

Michael is a theatre-maker & educationalist who has lived locally for 20 years & used to teach near to Oxford House. He currently works as Associate Director for NIE Theatre. He has held previous Associate roles at Dundee Rep, Theatre Centre and A New Direction. He is a Fellow of the RSA.

Fergus Early (Vice Chair)

Fergus is the founder and Creative Director of Green Candle, a dance company working in community and educational contexts for all age groups and abilities. He began his dancing career with the Royal Ballet and was also a founder member of X6 Dance Space and New Dance magazine. Fergus is the winner of several awards, including a Greater London Arts Dance Award, Lisa Ullman Traveling Bursary and the Time Out/Dance Umbrella Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement. He has recently been awarded an OBE for his contribution to dance.

Linda Kaur

Linda has been a member of the board since 1994. Linda lives in Bethnal Green and is passionate about the community of Bethnal Green; she has been a school governor for 35 years. Linda manages to mix a business head with a strong commitment to the local voluntary sector. She is a successful local businesswoman having operated a number of businesses over the last 20 plus years.

Matthew Railton

Matt is Managing Director of Four Colman Getty, the communications agency for culture and the creative industries, with clients across the cultural sector, including visual and performing arts, festivals and design. His current clients include Culture Southampton, 100% Design, Vitra, the Michelangelo Foundation for creativity and craftsmanship, HarperCollins and the London Legacy Development Corporation (Cultural and Education District in the Olympic Park).

Nivek Amichund

Nivek Amichund has a fabulous title! He is the Chief Exhibitor at HM Tower of London. He is also a resident at the Tower with his family. Nivek joined the board in June 2019 and has specific experience with visitor management and staff development.

Jamie Andrews

Jamie is Head of Cultural Engagement at the British Library, where he leads the Library’s cultural programme onsite, online, and across the UK. Jamie was a Clore Leadership Fellow in 2012/13, which included a secondment to the British Council, and is also a Fellow of the RSA and the English Association. Jamie has previously served on boards at De Montfort University and Sheffield Theatres Trust.

Polly Richards

Polly  has lived in the local area for the past 16 years. She is a freelance Interpretation and Masterplanning Consultant currently working for Museum and Heritage sites in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Previously a theatre and then film designer, Polly has worked as an interpretive planner in the Museum sector for the past 12 years. She also has a PhD in Dogon Masquerade, from central Mali.

Robert Robinson

Robert lives in Bethnal Green and joined the board in July 2016. He created and co–founded Notes Music & Coffee Ltd. The company employs over 50 people across 6 sites including Canary Wharf and Kings Cross. Rob is a keen cyclist and can be spotted cycling between the various Notes outlets.

Ibrar Alyas

Ibrar joined the board in June 2019. He has worked at Credit Suissse  since  2015 and is skilled in programme management, investment banking, risk & finance, scenario stress testing, market and credit risk. Ibrar will help the board and staff team to further develop our financial planning and control.
